Although my New Year initially got off to a really great start, that streak of good luck did not last for long at all. Starting last week, it seemed like everything that could possibly go wrong ended up going wrong.

The week got off to a terrible start when I noticed that my dog (who I have had for seven years) was acting funny. I got really worried about her health, so I immediately took her down to the veterinarian. Although it was nothing life-threatening, it did turn out that she was sick, and because I would do anything for my dog, I had no choice but to spend quite a bit of money on medications to help her feel better (she is doing much better now).

My string of bad luck continued when I walked out to my car one morning and it wouldn’t start. Fortunately, one of my friends works for a car rental company in Houston, and he was able to get a rental car for me to use while my car was in the shop.

Surprisingly, I just found out this week that I’m not going to be charged for the rental car, so maybe my luck is taking a turn for the better now!
